My New Orleans Vacation

From Wikipedia

"The city is named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723, as it was established by French colonists and strongly influenced by their European culture. It is well known for its distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage. New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz), and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras, dating to French colonial times. The city is often referred to as the "most unique" in the United States."

In October of 2015 my wife and I took a vacation to visit this "unique" city for four days.

We were renting a condo in the very old building.

So I guess here is no insulation on the walls, just bricks... This way if you are a bit drunk, and it's very common in this area, you won't understand if you are inside or outside the building! And of course the R value of these walls is pretty low. By the way, in their cemeteries they use specially designed tombs for slow cremation, because in these toms the temperature rises up to more than 400*F. So it looks like they making themselves ready for the inevitable...

The wall mounted AC units in the bedroom and great (family, dining and kitchen room - everything in one) are in the good working condition, but too fucking noisy! The ceiling fans are coupled with the lights and couldn't be used during the night!

I have no idea what is wrong with these people, but in South they always use one pane windows and one pane glass doors?!? The amount of money they are wasting on cooling their "tombs" is beyond comprehension. But if you would ask they most likely would say that they are very comfortable with this type of "wild" capitalism they live in and they don't need any government oversight. If so just enjoy it and keep paying the top dollar price.

This building has another one attached to it and they both have only the wall units installed.

In the bathroom they have a ceiling fan and in the next photo is an additional absolutely unnecessary doors.

I'm always on vacation looking for interesting light commercial installations. In the multiple shops, bars and restaurants I've visited during this trip I haven't seen anything that could catch my imagination - just many sloppy mounted duct systems, but one was really unusual:

The Voodoo Blues shop has a supply duct made in the shape of a giant snake and you can enjoy some pictures of it below:
